LE GOUEFF Stéphan

As the founder of LG@vocat, my ambition was, and still is, to set up a team of women and men working in harmony and using the law and our creativity as tools to help our clients attain their objectives.
The capacity to listen, rigour, reactivity, conviviality, perseverance, respect and pleasure are the values that I feel strongly for and that are at the heart of our commitment to our clients.
In addition, as a legal professional, I use my skills, with our team members, to serve our clients.
Background
Born in Montreal, Canada, I did a part of my studies at McGill University (1982 B.A., B.C.L; 1983: L.L.B.). In 1984, I started as a trainee at the McCarthy Tetrault firm in Montreal. Then, I continued my studies in Paris (DESS) and, in 1986, I became an associate with White & Case in Paris, where I specialised in banking, mergers and acquisitions and project finance. In 1990, I came to Luxembourg to join, and thereafter to lead, the legal affairs of SES-ASTRA, where I was involved in the negotiation, drafting and management of satellite construction agreements, satellite launch services agreements and satellite transmission agreements, and was looking after the financing and insurance of the fleet of Satellites, etc...
It is those professional experiences, carried out in different countries, as much as an International firm lawyer as the head of the legal affairs dept of a large hi-tech firm, which prompted me, in 1995, to create what is now LG@vocats.
Day-to-day
In addition to the management and development of our firm which is a permanent challenge, and which gives me much pleasure, my favourite fields of interest are negotiation and the drafting of large industrial or hi-tech contracts, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and financing transactions. I also advise on media law matters (regulatory issues, broadcasting licences, production of films, transfer or licence of IP rights, etc.), telecommunications law (sharing of infrastructure agreements, interconnection, right of way, licences, etc.) and IT law (advice on the implementation Internet sites etc.).

Other
In addition to my professional activities, I have also presented, for the last two years, two TV programmes on the T.TV network in Luxembourg. One of those, Media +, is about communications and media, and the other, APM Management, is about management and companies, two subjects that I deal with on a daily basis.
I also act as External Commerce Counsellor for France, Director of the French Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg and also Director of several companies clients of LG@vocats.
To educate myself to the art of management, I participate, since several years, to the works of the Association for the Progress of Management. The APM purports to allow heads of firms to exchange views and learn management practices for their personal progress and that of their firms.
After hours
Because it is a constant challenge, and because rigour and team work are a necessity (as in my professional life), I am developing a passion about rock climbing. To keep fit, I also enjoy jogging on week ends. Winter brings me to the sky slopes while, in summer, I like to discover faraway places with my children.
